New Delhi – Harendra Singh has stood up on the removal of the head coach of the Indian men’s hockey team. Former veterans have flaunted Hockey India with their words in support of Singh. Let’s tell you what legend hockey players have to say in this matter:
“Hockey India’s decision to remove Harendra Singh as the Chief Coach of Senior Men Hockey Team of India is absolutely wrong. Removing them from this position is absolutely beyond the understanding of the boys of India’s junior team. Any coach should be given time to adjust the team accordingly. ” – Ashok Kumar Singh, Hero of India’s 1977 Hockey World Cup

“There is no structure for Hockey players in India nor Hockey of Coaches. Hockey India has not done anything new by removing Harendra Singh as the Chief Coach. There has been a long history of changing coaches in Indian hockey. If you take 35-36 players in the Core Group of India’s current Hockey Team, about two dozen of them are from Punjab. In India, when there is no proper structure for hockey, then it is only hopeless to expect good tournaments in any major tournament. The attitude that Suresh Kalmadi had earlier was the same attitude of Narinder Batra. When such an attitude remains, then the hiring of Indian hockey in the recent past is a waste of time. – Pargat Singh,
